Former Pakistan speedster Sohail Tanvir has admitted that Babar Azam is weak against left-arm fast bowlers, particularly those who can bowl in-swingers.

While Tanvir noted that he cannot comment on Azam’s calibre as a batsman, he urged the 30-year-old to work on fixing the problem he has against left-arm quicks.

“I’m not the right person to comment on a batter of Babar Azam’s calibre, but as a bowler, I think he needs to address this vulnerability,” he was quoted as saying by ARY News.

Azam was recently involved in Pakistan’s three-match ODI series against New Zealand, where he scored 129 runs, which included two half-centuries, at an average of 43.

He then captained the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and accumulated 288 runs in 10 games, which included three fifties, at an average of 36 and a strike-rate of 128.57.

Following the completion of PSL 10, Pakistan went up against Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series, but Azam was not selected for it.

The men in green won the series 3-0.
