Pakistan seamer Hasan Ali admitted that cutting down on the amount of sugar he intakes has really benefitted his career.
Hasan is performing at a really high level and has been taking plenty of wickets lately.
He noted that he started paying closer attention to his diet and became more disciplined when it came to what he ate.
The changes he made paid off significantly as during the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), he was the joint second-highest wicket-taker with 17 wickets in 10 matches for the Karachi Kings at an average of 20.47 and an economy rate of 9.03.
“During my injury period, I used the time to work on my game. I didn’t give up my ‘roti gang’ roots, but I’ve cut down on sugar and become more disciplined in my eating habits. Better late than never. Improving my diet has really helped me. I studied about it myself and got a lot of help from my wife. Diet is something we athletes should take seriously,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
After PSL 10, Hasan was called up to the national team for the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh and remained in red-hot form as he claimed eight wickets, which included a career-best five-wicket haul, at an average of 11.12 and an economy rate of 9.53.
The men in green won the series 3-0.
