Pakistan power-hitter Iftikhar Ahmed has vowed to perform if he gets the chance to bat higher up the order.
Iftikhar used to be one of the go-to big-hitters in the national team, but seems to have fallen out of favour with the selectors as of late.
Recently, the 34-year-old took part in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), but wasn’t able to have a huge impact as he was limited to 98 runs in eight matches for the Multan Sultans at an average of 19.60 and a strike-rate of 124.05.
Should he get the opportunity to make an international comeback in the future, Iftikhar made it clear that he wants to get promoted up the batting order as it will give him more time to show what he can do.
“I will perform for Pakistan if promoted up in the batting order,” he was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X, formerly known as Twitter.
After PSL 10 ended, Pakistan faced Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series, but Iftikhar was not included in the team.
The men in green won the series 3-0.
