Pakistan batsman Hussain Talat said many cricketers don’t want to play in the middle order nowadays since they are worried about failing.
Talat has been excelling in the middle order lately and was particularly impressive while playing for the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL).
In nine matches, he amassed 205 runs, which included a top score of 51 not out, at an average of 41 and a strike-rate of 134.86.
He also took five wickets at an average of 24.40 and an economy rate of 10.30.
Having shown he can get the job done as a middle order batsman, the 29-year-old will no doubt be looking to keep piling on the runs in order to convince the national selectors to recall him to the Pakistan team.
“No one now wants to play in the middle order because of pressure of failures,” Talat was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
After PSL 10, Pakistan took on Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series, but Talat was not part of the squad when it was announced.
The men in green won the series 3-0.
