Legendary Pakistan batsman Mohammad Yousuf has spotted a weakness in top cricketer Babar Azam, saying he has a problem when facing the new ball.
Azam is struggling to score runs on a regular basis, which has become a major issue for the national team as they rely on him to be one of their go-to run-scorers.
Having identified the 30-year-old’s issues against the new ball, Yousuf noted he should work on rectifying the problem.
“He (Babar Azam) is right now facing a problem with the new ball,” he said on Samaa TV programme Zor Ka Jor.
Azam recently played in Pakistan’s three-match ODI series against New Zealand and made 129 runs, which included two fifties, at an average of 43.
He then captained the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and amassed 288 runs in 10 games, which included three fifties, at an average of 36 and a strike-rate of 128.57.
After PSL 10, Pakistan took on Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series, but Azam was left out of the squad.
The men in green won the series 3-0.
