Karachi Kings owner Salman Iqbal believes when Pakistan batsman Babar Azam returns to form, he will be bigger than India superstar Virat Kohli and on the same level as the legendary West Indian duo of Sir Garfield Sobers and Sir Viv Richards.

Azam is currently fighting hard to break out of the rough patch he finds himself in.

He has shown signs of getting back to his best on various occasions, including during Pakistan’s three-match ODI series against New Zealand, where he made 129 runs, which included two fifties, at an average of 43.

Following this, he captained the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and amassed 288 runs in 10 games, which included three fifties, at an average of 36 and a strike-rate of 128.57.

“I am telling you. Mark my words, when Babar Azam makes a comeback again, he will be a bigger player than any other player in the world, including Virat Kohli. He will be matched with names like Garry Sobers and Sir Viv Richards,” Iqbal said on the ARY Podcast as quoted by NDTV.

“He has that class element. When someone has class…. Class is permanent, you can’t change that. Style is always permanent. He will come back… he will come back with a bang.”

After PSL 10, Pakistan went up against Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series, but Azam was not included in the team.

The men in green won the series 3-0.
