Rashid Latif said Pakistan batsman Sahibzada Farhan is miles ahead of Hasan Nawaz

Rashid Latif: “If I compare him with Sahibzada Farhan, the difference is huge. He’s been the top performer in domestic T20 tournaments for a reason. You can’t compare 2,000 runs with 200”

Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has conceded that Sahibzada Farhan is miles ahead of fellow batsman Hasan Nawaz.

Latif feels Farhan should be the first choice out of the duo as he has performed consistently in domestic cricket.

Prior to returning to the national team for the ongoing three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, Farhan was the top run-scorer in the National T20 Cup.

In seven matches for Peshawar Region, he scored 605 runs, which included three centuries and two fifties, at a mind-boggling average of 121 and a strike-rate of 189.65.

He continued to dominate in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) as he was the highest run-scorer once again with 449 runs in 12 games for Islamabad United, which included a hundred and three half-centuries, at an average of 37.41 and a strike-rate of 152.20.

Hasan, meanwhile, has also done well as in his third T20I for Pakistan, which came against New Zealand, he smashed 105 not out off 45 balls, which included 10 boundaries and seven sixes.

As for PSL 10, he was the third-highest run-scorer with 399 runs in 12 matches for the Quetta Gladiators, which included a century and three fifties, at an average of 57 and a strike-rate of 162.19.

“When you’re introducing new players into the team, you can’t just say Hasan should go ahead because he scored a century. That’s not how it works. There are other players as well,” Latif was quoted as saying by A Sports.

“If I compare him with Sahibzada Farhan, the difference is huge. He’s been the top performer in domestic T20 tournaments for a reason. You can’t compare 2,000 runs with 200. PCB should back those who are consistently performing.”

In Pakistan’s T20I series against Bangladesh, Farhan struck a career-best 74 off 41 balls in the 2nd T20I, which included four boundaries and six sixes.

Overall, he ended up scoring 75 runs in two matches at an average of 37.50 and a strike-rate of 166.66.

As for Nawaz, he amassed 121 runs in three matches, which included a top score of 51 not out, at an average of 60.50 and a strike-rate of 198.36.

Pakistan won the series 3-0.

  1. I feel Hasan has better technique. He reaches the ball better and judges spin better….
The test will be when they play on faster turning wickets..Sahibzada moves to far back against the incoming spin in order to strike the ball hard….on a faster pitch with slight turn, he is likely to have problems with googlies using that approach .
