Fast bowler Hasan Ali has called Babar Azam his “hot favourite player in Pakistan” and has backed the top order batsman to make a comeback in terms of scoring runs consistently.

Azam has struggled to post big scores on a regular basis, which has been a huge problem for the men in green as the 30-year-old is considered the backbone of the batting line-up.

Recently, he scored 129 runs in three ODIs against New Zealand, which included two fifties, at an average of 43.

He then went on to captain the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and made 288 runs in 10 matches, which included three half-centuries, at an average of 36 and a strike-rate of 128.57.

“Babar is my hot favourite player in Pakistan. I, along with the entire Pakistani nation, feel sad when a good player doesn’t perform well. But on the other hand, every player goes through good and bad times. This is the same Babar Azam whom we once called a king and praised. He has delivered many great performances for Pakistan, and we should not forget them. I strongly believe he will make a comeback,” Hasan was quoted as saying by TOK Sports on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Azam was not picked for Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, but Hasan made the cut and took eight wickets, which included a five-wicket haul, at an average of 11.12 and an economy rate of 9.53.

The men in green won the series 3-0.
