Asad Shafiq: “All players are in our plans. Whoever performs in domestic cricket will get an opportunity”

Pakistan selector Asad Shafiq has confirmed fast bowler Mushtaq Ahmed Kalhoro is in the selection committee’s plans going forward.
His comments come after Kalhoro dominated in both the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and President’s Trophy Grade-I tournament, picking up a total of 77 wickets – the most in first-class cricket in Pakistan since 2013.
In the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, the 28-year-old took 25 wickets in four matches for Larkana Region, which included four five-wicket hauls, at an average of 19.
He did even better in the President’s Trophy Grade-I competition as he was the highest wicket-taker with 52 wickets in eight games for Oil & Gas Development Company Limited, which included five five-fors, at an average of 20.63.
Considering the season the Sukkur native has had, Shafiq reiterated that the selectors are keeping a close eye on him.
“All players are in our plans. Whoever performs in domestic cricket will get an opportunity,” he was quoted as saying by A Sports.
Kalhoro has yet to make his international debut, meaning he was not involved in the 2025 Champions Trophy and Pakistan’s white-ball tour of New Zealand.
He also didn’t feature in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), which the Lahore Qalandars won.
Currently, Pakistan are facing Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series, which they lead 2-0.
The 3rd T20I will take place on June 1 in Lahore.
