Mohammad Ali: “I think when you play for Pakistan, you get an added responsibility when you go back to domestic to prove why you played for Pakistan. This is my perspective”

Pakistan pace bowler Mohammad Ali said he treats every domestic game like a Test match as he feels he has “an added responsibility” to prove why the selectors picked him in the national team.
Ali has been a strong performer in domestic cricket and his consistency has resulted in him getting back into the national set-up.
While the 32-year-old has returned to the Test team, former team director Mohammad Hafeez believed that the Sialkot native should also be playing ODIs.
Despite not being selected for the 2025 Champions Trophy, Ali got the opportunity to make his limited overs debut during the recent tour of New Zealand.
In the three T20Is he played, he took one wicket at an average of 86.
He then played one ODI and finished with one wicket at an average of 53.
“I think when you play for Pakistan, you get an added responsibility when you go back to domestic to prove why you played for Pakistan. This is my perspective. when I played for Pakistan and went back to domestic, I gave every match the same importance that I would give to a Test match for Pakistan,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Ali is now representing the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he has gone wicketless in his first two games against the Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United.
