Former Pakistan fast bowler Sarfraz Nawaz has revealed that he wrote to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi and asked him to consider selecting spinners Sajid Khan and Noman Ali for the 2025 Champions Trophy.
He noted that both players had been in phenomenal form in Pakistan’s Test series against England and the West Indies.
That said, it should be noted neither Sajid nor Noman have played an ODI or T20I for Pakistan.
“When the team was announced, I wrote to the chairman of the PCB suggesting spinners like Sajid (Khan) and Noman (Ali), who had wrecked England earlier. They performed well against the West Indies too, but they were not picked at all,” Sarfraz told Cricbuzz.
Pakistan failed to make it out of the group stage in the Champions Trophy as they were unable to win a single game throughout their campaign.
Following this, the men in green toured New Zealand for a white-ball series and started off by losing the T20Is 4-1.
Next up was the three-match ODI series, which Pakistan lost 3-0.
Many of the Pakistan players will now feature in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), but Sajid and Noman won’t be involved in the tournament as they weren’t picked by any team.
PSL 10 will be held from April 11 to May 18.
