Former Pakistan captain Moin Khan has advised batsman Babar Azam to evolve like India superstar Virat Kohli.

Azam has found it difficult to score runs on a regular basis for quite some time, which has raised questions about how long his rough patch will continue.

Moin knows the 30-year-old “is a good player”, but insisted that some sort of transformation is needed if the Lahore native is to get back to his best.

“Babar Azam is a good player, but he needs to transform himself. He should evolve like Virat Kohli has,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

Recently, Azam was in action in the ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa, where he made 62 runs in three games at an average of 20.66.

He followed it up with 87 runs in two matches in the 2025 Champions Trophy, which included a top score of 64, at an average of 43.50.

Pakistan are now taking on New Zealand in a limited overs series and were beaten 4-1 in the T20Is.

Azam was not picked for the T20Is, but made the cut the ongoing three-match ODI series, where he has amassed 79 runs in two games, which includes a top score of 78, at an average of 39.50.

Pakistan are 2-0 down in the series going into the 3rd ODI on April 5 in Mount Maunganui.
