Legendary Pakistan fast bowler Waqar Younis has admitted that there is “no better sight” when batsman Babar Azam is at his best.
Azam has been Pakistan’s most consistent run-scorer in all three formats for years, but his form has taken a drastic dip lately.
During the ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa, he made 62 runs in three games at an average of 20.66.
He followed it up with 87 runs in two matches in the 2025 Champions Trophy, which included a top score of 64, at an average of 43.50.
Waqar hopes Azam finds his form soon as he knows how much he enjoys watching the 30-year-old when he is firing on all cylinders.
“When Babar plays well, there’s no better sight, simple as that,” he was quoted as saying by TOK Sports on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Pakistan are now touring New Zealand and began on a low as they were thumped 4-1 in the T20Is, which Azam wasn’t picked for.
However, the Lahore native is playing in the ongoing three-match ODI series and kicked off his campaign with 78 runs in the 1st ODI in Napier, which the men in green lost by 73 runs.
The 2nd ODI will take place on April 2 in Hamilton.
