India batting icon Sunil Gavaskar has urged Pakistan to keep supporting Babar Azam as he is one of their most talented batsmen.

Azam has struggled to score runs consistently lately, which has become a major problem for the men in green.

During the ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa, the 30-year-old finished with 62 runs in three games at an average of 20.66.

He then went on to score 87 runs in two matches in the 2025 Champions Trophy, which included a top score of 64, at an average of 43.50.

Even though his form has drastically declined, Gavaskar feels it would be a mistake for Pakistan to move on from Azam.

“You have to support Babar Azam, he’s so talented,” he was quoted as saying by Khel Shel on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Pakistan are now touring New Zealand and began in disappointing fashion as they were crushed 4-1 in the T20I series.

The two teams are now playing a three-match ODI series, which the Black Caps lead 1-0 after securing a 73-run win in the 1st ODI in Napier.

The 2nd ODI will take place on April 2 in Hamilton.
