Legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar feels that the India batsmen treat Pakistan left-arm seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi “like a spinner”.
Afridi is the leader of Pakistan’s pace attack, can bowl at speeds of 140 kph, and has a habit of taking wickets with the new ball.
Despite this, Gavaskar hinted that the Indian batsmen don’t find him difficult to play.
“Shaheen Afridi is treated like a spinner by Indian batters,” he was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Afridi recently featured in the 2025 Champions Trophy and took two wickets in two matches at an average of 71.
He failed to have much of an impact in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand as well as he claimed two wickets in four games at an average of 66.50.
Pakistan are now playing a three-match ODI series against New Zealand, but Afridi was not included in the team.
The men in green trail 1-0 going into the 2nd ODI in Hamilton on April 2 after losing the 1st ODI in Napier by 73 runs.
