Pakistan batsman Ahmed Shehzad said opener Imam-ul-Haq was allegedly dropped from the national team for leaking “dressing room conversations to the media and friends”.
Shehzad stressed that he doesn’t know if it’s true or not and simply said this is what he has heard.
Imam was recently recalled to the Pakistan team during the 2025 Champions Trophy as a replacement for Fakhar Zaman, who was ruled out of the tournament after suffering an oblique injury in the opening game against New Zealand.
The 29-year-old went on to play against India in the competition, but only scored 10 runs.
“It was said that Imam was not dropped based on performance but due to discipline issues. Specifically, it was alleged that he leaked dressing room conversations to the media and friends. I have heard this, but I don’t know whether it’s true or not. If these were the reasons for his exclusion, then you should have stuck to that stance,” Shehzad said on Geo News as quoted by PakPassion.
Pakistan are now playing a limited overs series against New Zealand and were beaten 4-1 in the T20Is.
Imam was not picked for the T20I series, but is part of the squad for the ongoing three-match ODI series.
The men in green lost the 1st ODI in Napier by 73 runs and will look to bounce back in the 2nd ODI, which will take place on April 2 in Hamilton.
