Ahmed Shehzad: “It’s sad to see him in this condition. When he started his career, it seemed he would break all records for Pakistan. But now, everything is in front of you – players don’t fail for this long”

Pakistan cricketer Ahmed Shehzad has lashed out at batsman Babar Azam, saying “players don’t fail for this long”.
Azam has struggled to score runs consistently for a lengthy period of time, which has really hurt the men in green as he is one of their top batsmen.
Shehzad admitted that “it’s sad to see him in this condition” as he thought Azam was good enough to “break all records for Pakistan”.
Recently, Azam was in action in the 2025 Champions Trophy and amassed 87 runs in two games, which included a top score of 64, at an average of 43.50.
“It’s sad to see him in this condition. When he started his career, it seemed he would break all records for Pakistan. But now, everything is in front of you – players don’t fail for this long,” Shehzad told India Today.
Pakistan are now touring New Zealand for a limited overs series and were comprehensively beaten 4-1 in the T20Is.
Azam was not part of Pakistan’s T20I squad, but has been picked for the upcoming three-match ODI series, which begins on March 29 in Napier.
