Former Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has praised opening batsman Imam-ul-Haq, saying he is a “fantastic player” who possesses an “impressive record” in ODI cricket.
Imam has scored 3,148 runs in 73 ODIs, which includes nine centuries and 20 fifties, at an average of 47.69.
The 29-year-old recently featured in the 2025 Champions Trophy after being called up as a replacement for fellow opener Fakhar Zaman, who was ruled out for the tournament after suffering an oblique injury in the opening game against New Zealand.
Imam only played in the match against India and scored 10 runs.
Despite this, Hafeez insisted there is no denying his impressive achievements in the 50-over format.
“He is a fantastic player with an impressive record in ODIs,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Pakistan were eliminated in the group stage of the Champions Trophy after losing to New Zealand and India.
Their final match against Bangladesh was abandoned due to rain.
The men in green are now playing a white-ball series against New Zealand and were demolished 4-1 in the T20Is.
