Pakistan left-arm seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi confirmed that the men in green have their sights set on New Zealand batsman Kane Williamson.
The men in green will be touring New Zealand for a limited overs series and Afridi knows that getting Williamson out early will “put pressure on his team”.
It should be noted that the 34-year-old was in fantastic form for the Black Caps in the 2025 Champions Trophy as he amassed 200 runs in five matches, which included a century and a fifty, at an average of 40.
“We’ve our eyes set on Kane Williamson, so that we can take his wicket and put pressure on his team,” Afridi was quoted as saying on X, formerly known as Twitter.
In the Champions Trophy, Afridi took two wickets in two games at an average of 71.
Pakistan failed to make it out of the group stage as they lost to New Zealand and India, while their final match against Bangladesh was washed out.
Pakistan are now involved in a white-ball series against New Zealand, which comprises five T20Is and three ODIs.
The men in green lost the 1st T20I by nine wickets and will bounce to bounce back in the 2nd T20I on March 18 in Dunedin.
