Pakistan batsman Ahmed Shehzad feels spinner Usama Mir should have been selected for the 2025 Champions Trophy.
The men in green struggled in the tournament as they failed to make it out of the group stage.
Pakistan lost their matches against New Zealand and India, while their final game against Bangladesh was washed out.
Mir has featured in 12 ODIs to date and taken 15 wickets at an average of 42.26.
However, he hasn’t been given many opportunities lately as his last ODI came all the way back at the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup.
Nonetheless, Shehzad believes the 29-year-old deserved to make the cut for the Champions Trophy, especially since he feels the men in green had a shortage of spinners in the squad.
“As for Usama Mir, I agree that he should have been included,” he said on Geo News’ show Haarna Mana Hai as quoted by Geo Super.
Pakistan’s next assignment will be a tour of New Zealand, which will consist of five T20Is and three ODIs that will be played from March 16 to April 5.
