Herschelle Gibbs: “Language is an issue with Babar… as you know his English isn’t great so it’s difficult to get points across to him”

Former South Africa cricketer Herschelle Gibbs has admitted that it is tough to get points across to Pakistan batsman Babar Azam as “his English isn’t great”.
Azam has struggled for consistency when it comes to scoring runs over the past few months, which has really hurt the men in green as he is one of their premier batsmen.
During the ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa, the 30-year-old batted as an opener since Saim Ayub is out of action with a fractured ankle.
In the three games he played, he scored 62 runs at an average of 20.66.
Azam then took part in the 2025 Champions Trophy and amassed 87 runs in two games, which included a top score of 64, at an average 43.50.
“Language is an issue with Babar… as you know his English isn’t great so it’s difficult to get points across to him,” Gibbs said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Pakistan lost to New Zealand and India in the Champions Trophy, which led to them getting eliminated in the group stage.
Their last game against Bangladesh was abandoned due to rain.
