Pakistan cricketer Ahmed Shehzad has slammed limited overs captain Mohammad Rizwan and white-ball vice-captain Salman Ali Agha for “playing so many dot balls” when batting.

He noted that this cannot continue happening as they need to keep the scoreboard ticking by rotating the strike and hitting boundaries.

Both Rizwan and Salman are key batsmen in the side, with Rizwan having been in good form, while Salman has brought some much-needed stability to the middle order.

That said, Shehzad noted that they need to be more proactive instead of defensive-minded when batting.

“Rizwan is playing so many dot balls, and Salman Ali Agha is also following [in] your footsteps,” he was quoted as saying by TOK Sports on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Rizwan and Salman were recently involved in Pakistan’s ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa, with the former scoring 171 runs in three matches, which included a top score of 122 not out, at an average of 85.50.

As for Salman, he ended up with 219 runs in three games, which included a career-best 134, at an average of 73.

They then took part in the 2025 Champions Trophy and Rizwan amassed 49 runs in two matches at an average of 24.50.

Salman, meanwhile, made 61 runs at an average of 30.50.

Pakistan lost to New Zealand and India in the Champions Trophy, which resulted in them getting eliminated in the group stage.

Their final game against Bangladesh was washed out.
