Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has blasted left-arm pace bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, questioning when was the last time he won a match.
Afridi’s form has been slightly turbulent as of late as he has struggled to take wickets regularly.
He is the leader of Pakistan’s fast bowling attack and recently took six wickets in three matches during the ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa at an average of 33.16.
However, the men in green ended up losing to the Black Caps in the final of the tri-series.
In the opening game of the ongoing 2025 Champions Trophy, Afridi went wicketless and conceded 68 runs off his 10 overs as Pakistan lost to New Zealand by 60 runs.
With this in mind, Latif took aim at the 24-year-old and asked whether he deserves his place in the team since he is not fulfilling his role as a match-winner.
“When was the last time Afridi delivered a match-winning performance?” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Pakistan’s next Champions Trophy match will be against India on February 23 in Dubai.
