Shoaib Akhtar: “They played really well. There was an attitude change. Rizwan changed the attitude”

Legendary Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has credited limited overs captain Mohammad Rizwan for changing the attitude of the team.
Rizwan was only appointed as Pakistan’s white-ball skipper in October 2024, but has already pulled off an impressive accomplishment as his side won their first ODI series in Australia since 2002 after triumphing 2-1.
The men in green lost the T20I series that followed 3-0, but turned their fortunes around during their tour of Zimbabwe, where they won both the ODI and T20I series 2-1.
After this, Pakistan travelled to South Africa and lost the T20I series 2-0 before bouncing back to whitewash the Proteas 3-0 in the ODIs.
Along with a notable shift in attitude, Akhtar also praised the national team for coming together and playing well under Rizwan’s leadership.
“They played really well. There was an attitude change. Rizwan changed the attitude,” the Rawalpindi Express said on his YouTube channel as quoted by NDTV.
Most recently, Rizwan led Pakistan in an ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa. The men in green made it to the final before losing to the Black Caps.
Rizwan will now captain Pakistan in the 2025 Champions Trophy, which will take place from February 19 to March 9.
