Pakistan white-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan has backed the selection of all-rounder Faheem Ashraf for the 2025 Champions Trophy, saying his List A batting average “speaks for itself” as it has been around 46 over the past two years.

Faheem’s recall has raised a lot of eyebrows, but Rizwan insisted the 31-year-old deserved to return to the national team.

Recently, Faheem featured in Pakistan’s ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa, where the men in green made it to the final before losing to the Black Caps.

Only picked for the final, the Kasur native scored 22 runs and conceded 16 runs off the 2.2 overs he bowled.

Even though doubts linger about Faheem and the kind of impact he can have, Rizwan is backing him to put on a show in the Champions Trophy.

“Faheem Ashraf’s performance over the past two years has been solid. His List A average is around 46, which speaks for itself,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

The Champions Trophy will be played from February 19 to March 9.
