Ramiz Raja: “Babar Azam has been the main face of [the] Pakistan team from a very long time”

Former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja believes batsman Babar Azam “has been the main face” of the national team for “a very long time”.
Azam has been Pakistan’s most consistent run-scorer across all three formats for years, even though his form has dipped lately.
The 30-year-old recently featured in Pakistan’s tour of South Africa and scored 31 runs in two T20Is at an average of 15.50.
He followed it up with 148 runs in three ODIs, which included two fifties, at an average of 49.33.
Azam continued to shine in the two-Test series, racking up 193 runs, which included three half-centuries, at an average of 48.25.
However, he was unable to maintain his momentum in the two-Test series against the West Indies as he was limited to 45 runs at an average of 11.25.
Despite this, Ramiz still thinks Azam is the golden boy of Pakistan cricket.
“Babar Azam has been the main face of [the] Pakistan team from a very long time,” he was quoted as saying on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Azam is now featuring in Pakistan’s ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa.
In the opening match against New Zealand, he made 10 runs as Pakistan ended up being beaten by 78 runs.
Following the tri-series, Pakistan will play in the 2025 Champions Trophy, which will take place from February 19 to March 9.
