Pakistan batsman Babar Azam: “I’m fully fit. We are never taught to have rest. We are always passionate to play cricket”

Pakistan batsman Babar Azam has shown off his passion for playing cricket, saying “we are never taught to have rest”.
Azam has been Pakistan’s most consistent run-scorer across all three formats for the past few years and has single-handedly won games on numerous occasions.
Even though his form has dipped lately, he made it clear that he is “fully fit” and always excited to represent his country.
“I’m fully fit. We are never taught to have rest. We are always passionate to play cricket,” he was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Azam recently travelled to South Africa with the Pakistan team and kicked off his campaign with 31 runs in two T20Is at an average of 15.50.
He did a lot better in the three-match ODI series, making 148 runs, which included two fifties, at an average of 49.33.
His good form continued in the two Tests that were played as he amassed 193 runs, which included three half-centuries, at an average of 48.25.
Unfortunately, the 30-year-old was unable to maintain his momentum in Pakistan’s two-Test series against the West Indies as he only managed to muster 45 runs at an average of 11.25.
Azam’s next assignment will be an ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa.
After this, he will represent Pakistan in the 2025 Champions Trophy, which will be played from February 19 to March 9.
