Pakistan fast bowler Ihsanullah has promised to do so well in the upcoming domestic tournaments that “all franchises will recognise me again”.
Ihsanullah shot to fame during the 2023 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he wowed everyone with his bowling speed, which surpassed 150 kph, and celebration.
The 22-year-old finished as the second-highest wicket-taker in PSL 8 with 22 wickets in 12 matches for the Multan Sultans at an average of 15.77.
Soon after, he was representing Pakistan and ended up playing four T20Is, where he claimed six wickets at an average of 18.
He also made his ODI debut in April 2023 but went wicketless in the match.
However, not long after this, he suffered elbow and shoulder injuries that kept him sidelined for over a year.
Ihsanullah eventually made his comeback in the Champions T20 Cup in December 2024, but only managed to pick up two wickets in four matches for the Dolphins at an average of 62.50.
Despite once being one of the brightest prospects in Pakistan cricket, the Matta native went unsold in the PSL 10 player draft and is now focused on getting fully fit within four months.
“Insha’Allah, I will be fit within four months. With National T20, Sindh Premier League, and KPL (Kashmir Premier League) ahead, I will perform in these leagues in a way that all franchises will recognise me again as the same Ihsanullah, with no change,” he said on Samaa TV programme Zor Ka Jor.
Since he hadn’t played any cricket for such a long period of time, Ihsanullah was not picked for Pakistan’s tours of Australia, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
He also wasn’t selected for the two-Test series against the West Indies in Multan, which ended as a 1-1 draw.
In addition to this, Ihsanullah didn’t make the cut for the ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa, nor the 2025 Champions Trophy, which will be played from February 19 to March 9.
