Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Rashid Latif has taken a shot at Test captain Shan Masood, saying the entire team “got changed just to accommodate” him.
Lately, the men in green haven’t gotten the results they would have wanted in the longest format as they were whitewashed 2-0 by South Africa in their Test series, while their two-Test series against the West Indies in Multan ended as a 1-1 draw.
Considering that Pakistan have lost numerous Tests under Masood’s leadership, Latif questioned why so many changes were made just for the 35-year-old.
“The entire Pakistan cricket team got changed just to accommodate one player and to appoint him as a Test captain,” he was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X, formerly known as Twitter.
During the South Africa Tests, Masood scored 192 runs, which included a top score of 145, at an average of 48.
He followed it up with 80 runs against the West Indies, which included a top score of 52, at an average of 20.
Pakistan Squad for West Indies Test Series: Shan Masood (captain), Saud Shakeel (vice-captain), Abrar Ahmed, Babar Azam, Imam-ul-Haq, Kamran Ghulam, Kashif Ali, Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Huraira, Mohammad Rizwan (wicketkeeper), Noman Ali, Rohail Nazir (wicketkeeper), Sajid Khan, Salman Ali Agha
