Former Australia all-rounder Tom Moody has heaped praise on Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Azam Khan, saying he is “one of those rare players who, from ball one, can hit the ball out of the ground”.

Azam is renowned for his power-hitting and has mostly featured in domestic cricket and franchise leagues in his career thus far.

The 26-year-old has represented Pakistan in 14 T20Is, but failed to have much of an impact, scoring 88 runs at an average of 8.80.

“We all know what he’s capable of doing. He’s one of those rare players who, from ball one, can hit the ball out of the ground,” Moody told Cricket Pakistan.

Azam last played for Pakistan during the 2024 T20 World Cup and thus missed their recent tours of Australia, Zimbabwe and South Africa.

He also wasn’t picked for the two-Test series against the West Indies in Multan, which finished as a 1-1 draw.
