Pakistan cricketer Ahmed Shehzad has expressed his frustration at the fact that Babar Azam keeps getting out to spinners.
Azam’s problems against spin have been highlighted in the past and many people have pointed out that it remains one of his weaknesses.
Having seen the 30-year-old get out to spin bowling time and time again, Shehzad questioned why the Lahore native is not doing anything to solve the problem.
“Once again when spinners came he had no answers for them!” he said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Azam was recently in action in Pakistan’s limited overs series against Australia and started off by scoring 80 runs in three ODIs at an average of 80.
He then proceeded to make 47 runs in three T20Is at an average of 15.66.
As for the tour of Zimbabwe that followed, Azam was rested for both the ODI and T20I series.
He was then involved in Pakistan’s tour of South Africa and made 31 runs in two T20Is at an average of 20.50.
In the three-match ODI series, he looked a lot better, accumulating 148 runs, which included two fifties, at an average of 49.33.
He continued to impress in the two-Test series, finishing with 193 runs, which included three half-centuries, at an average of 48.25.
Azam is now featuring in Pakistan’s two-Test series against the West Indies and made scores of 8 and 5 in the 1st Test in Multan.
Despite Azam not having much of an impact and getting out to left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican in the 2nd innings, Pakistan still went on to win the 1st Test by 127 runs.
The 2nd Test will begin on January 25 in Multan.
