Former Pakistan left-arm seamer Junaid Khan is glad to see batsman Babar Azam back in form as he had been struggling to score runs consistently for quite some time.

Azam has been Pakistan’s most consistent run-scorer in all three formats for the past few years, but the 30-year-old is currently emerging from a lengthy rough patch.

He showed encouraging signs of getting back to his best during Pakistan’s recent tour of South Africa, where he began by making 31 runs in two T20Is at an average of 15.50.

Following this, he proceeded to score 148 runs in three ODIs, which included two fifties, at an average of 49.33.

In the two-Test series, the Lahore native accumulated 193 runs, which included three half-centuries, at an average of 48.25.

Given the struggles Azam has had to overcome, Junaid conceded it is nice to see the star batsman scoring runs again.

“Good to see Babar back in form,” he said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Pakistan’s next assignment will be a two-Test series against the West Indies, which will take place in Karachi and Multan from January 17 to 29.

Pakistan Squad for West Indies Test Series: Shan Masood (captain), Saud Shakeel (vice-captain), Abrar Ahmed, Babar Azam, Imam-ul-Haq, Kamran Ghulam, Kashif Ali, Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Huraira, Mohammad Rizwan (wicketkeeper), Noman Ali, Rohail Nazir (wicketkeeper), Sajid Khan, Salman Ali Agha
