Former batsman Faisal Iqbal has heaped praise on Sufiyan Muqeem, saying he is the spinner Pakistan has been looking for.
Muqeem has seen more opportunities coming his way as of late and has grabbed them with both hands.
During the tour of Australia, he featured in two T20Is and took two wickets at an average of 15.
After that, he was involved in the limited overs series against Zimbabwe and grabbed nine wickets in three T20Is, which included a five-wicket haul, at an incredible average of 4.66.
Pakistan are now touring South Africa and Muqeem began with one wicket in one T20I at an average of 53.
He then made his ODI debut and had a game to remember, taking four wickets at an average of 13.
With the 25-year-old having dominated when the ball is in his hand, Faisal acknowledged that he is a “future star”.
“The spinner Pakistan cricket was looking for! Future star,” he said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Pakistan and South Africa just finished playing a two-Test series, which the Proteas won 2-0.
