Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja believes left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi should have been picked for the ongoing two-Test series against South Africa.

Ramiz pointed out that Afridi would have been a very useful asset as his form has come back, which was evident during the limited overs series that preceded the Tests.

In the T20I series against the Proteas, Afridi took three wickets in two matches at an average of 19.66.

He followed that up with seven wickets in three ODIs at an average of 23.28.

“With his form back, he bowled brilliantly in the ODI series as well! Shaheen should’ve been in the Test squad and was desperate to play too,” Ramiz was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Pakistan lost the 1st Test against South Africa in Centurion by two wickets.

The 2nd Test will start on January 3 in Cape Town.
