Pakistan limited overs captain Mohammad Rizwan said he has “trust and belief” in middle order batsman Kamran Ghulam.
Ghulam has enjoyed a meteoric rise to success ever since stamping his authority on debut in the 2nd Test against England in October 2024, where he made a breathtaking 118.
Since then, the 29-year-old has gotten more opportunities, especially in ODIs.
During Pakistan’s limited overs series against Australia, he featured in all three ODIs, but only batted once, scoring five runs.
He got more time to bat in the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe and didn’t disappoint as he amassed 120 runs, which included a career-best 103, at an average of 60.
As for Pakistan’s ongoing tour of South Africa, the Upper Dir native finished with 67 runs in three ODIs, which included a top score of 63, at an average of 22.33.
Rizwan has been really impressed with Ghulam’s performance thus far, especially considering the stability he has brought to the middle order, which used to be one of Pakistan’s main weaknesses.
“He deserves a lot of credit. I have trust and belief in him,” he was quoted as saying by respected journalist Saj Sadiq on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Pakistan and South Africa are now playing a two-Test series, which began on December 26 in Centurion.
In the 1st Test, Ghulam made scores of 54 and 4.
