Pakistan cricketer Faheem Ashraf believes too much is expected from all-rounders in the country.
Faheem used to be one of Pakistan’s go-to all-rounders in all three formats of the game, but inconsistent performances led to him being dropped.
The 30-year-old has remained overlooked for quite some time as his last international match came in December 2023.
Despite not having played for the national team for a year, Faheem has remained active in domestic cricket and recently represented the Dolphins in the Champions T20 Cup.
In seven matches, he scored 127 runs at an average of 18.14 and took six wickets at an average of 27.16.
“We expect too much from all-rounders in Pakistan,” the Kasur native was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The Pakistan team recently travelled to Australia and won the ODI series 2-1 before being battered 3-0 in the T20Is.
They then went to Zimbabwe and came away with a 2-1 win in both the ODI and T20I series.
Pakistan are now in South Africa and lost the T20I series 2-0 before bouncing back to secure a 3-0 whitewash in the ODIs.
The men in green and the Proteas are now playing a two-Test series, which got underway on December 26 in Centurion.
