His record as captain is not good, Rashid Latif calls out Pakistan player holding leadership role

Rashid Latif said Pakistan batsman Salman Ali Agha's record as captain is not good and thus questioned why he was appointed limited overs vice-captain

Rashid Latif: “Salman Ali Agha’s record as a captain is not good; he couldn’t even take his team to the second stage in domestic cricket. The PCB should have considered these factors. We don’t know what the reasoning was behind making him captain”

Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Rashid Latif has questioned why batting all-rounder Salman Ali Agha was appointed limited overs vice-captain.

Salman even captained the men in green in the third T20I against Australia and during the three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe, which the men in green won 2-1.

Despite this, Latif noted that the 31-year-old doesn’t have a good captaincy record in domestic cricket and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should have been aware of this before deciding who to select as Mohammad Rizwan’s deputy in white-ball cricket.

“Salman Ali Agha’s record as a captain is not good; he couldn’t even take his team to the second stage in domestic cricket. The PCB should have considered these factors. We don’t know what the reasoning was behind making him captain,” he said on his YouTube channel as quoted by PakPassion.

Salman is currently involved in Pakistan’s tour of South Africa and began with a Man of the Match performance in the 1st ODI, where he took four wickets and scored an unbeaten 82 to lead his side to a three-wicket win.

The 2nd ODI will take place on December 19 in Cape Town.

Once the ODI series is done, Pakistan and South Africa will play two Tests, which will start on December 26 in Centurion.
