Legendary Pakistan left-arm seamer Wasim Akram has recalled how fast bowler Ihsanullah “impressed everyone” during the 2023 Pakistan Super League (PSL).
In PSL 8, Ihsanullah took 22 wickets in 12 matches for the Multan Sultans, which included a five-wicket haul, at an average of 15.77.
The 22-year-old became a household name during that tournament due to his bowling speed, which regularly crossed the 150 kph mark.
After PSL 8, Ihsanullah was quickly called up to the Pakistan team and went on to play four T20Is, where he took six wickets at an average of 18.
He has also featured in one ODI, but went wicketless.
Ihsanullah’s last game for Pakistan came in April 2023 and since then, he has been out of action with elbow and shoulder injuries.
Despite having been sidelined for a long time, Wasim still hasn’t forgotten how good the Matta native was when he burst onto the scene during PSL 8.
“We have another pace bowler Ihsanullah. I think a couple of years ago he did really well in [the PSL] and impressed everyone,” the Sultan of Swing was quoted as saying by journalist Farid Khan on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The Pakistan team recently toured Australia and triumphed 2-1 in the ODI series before losing the T20I leg 3-0.
After that, they went to Zimbabwe and won both the ODI and T20I series 2-1.
Next up for the men in green will be a tour of South Africa, where they will play three T20Is, three ODIs and two Tests.
The T20I series will get underway on December 10, while the ODI and Test series will begin on December 17 and December 26 respectively.
