Pakistan pace bowler Naseem Shah has made it clear that he won’t give his wicket away easily when batting.
He noted that he wants to trouble the opposition and score handy lower order runs to help his side post strong totals.
Naseem put his batting skills on display during the recent three-match ODI series against Australia as he made a career-best 40 in the first ODI.
“The opposition might think that when they are into the lower order, wickets will fall quickly. But my belief is that whenever I go out to bat I never want to give my wicket away easily to the opposition,” the 21-year-old was quoted as saying by respected journalist Saj Sadiq on X, formerly known as Twitter.
In the ODI series against Australia, Naseem also took five wickets at an average of 31.60.
He then proceeded to feature in the three-match T20I series and picked up one wicket in two games at an average of 81.
Pakistan are now facing Zimbabwe in a limited overs series, but Naseem has been rested for it.
The three-match ODI series is currently tied at 1-1 going into the third game on November 28 in Bulawayo.
Following this, Pakistan and Zimbabwe will play three T20Is, with the first match getting underway on December 1 in Bulawayo.
