Former England captain Michael Vaughan has predicted that Pakistan opener Saim Ayub will be a “huge success across all formats for many years to come”.

Ayub has represented Pakistan in all three forms of the game already and averages 26.91, 34 and 14.71 in Tests, ODIs and T20Is respectively.

Recently, the 22-year-old was in action in Pakistan’s three-Test series against England and made 155 runs, which included a career-best 77, at an average of 25.83.

He then proceeded to amass 125 runs in a three-match ODI series against Australia, which included a top score of 82, at an average of 41.66.

The men in green won 2-1 to claim their first ODI series win in Australia since 2002.

Afterwards, Pakistan and Australia played three T20Is, but Ayub did not feature in it.

Having seen Ayub’s capabilities with the bat, Vaughan firmly believes the Karachi native is a superstar in the making.

“Saim Ayub looks like a seriously talented player who will be a huge success across all formats for many years to come,” he said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Ayub is currently featuring in Pakistan’s three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe and has amassed 124 runs in two games, which included a career-best 113 not out, at an average of 124.

The series is level at 1-1 going into the third ODI, which will take place on November 28 in Bulawayo.

Once the ODI series is done, the two teams will play three T20Is, with the first match scheduled to begin on December 1 in Bulawayo.
