Pakistan batsman Sahibzada Farhan: “I’ll be ready to play wherever I’m needed, but I hope to get a chance to play in the same position I play in domestic matches”

Pakistan batsman Sahibzada Farhan said he wants to play as an opener or at number three since that is the normal position he bats at in domestic cricket.

Farhan has regularly been utilised as a middle order batsman when representing the men in green, although in the recent three-match T20I series against Australia, he was given the chance to open and bat one down.

Despite this, the 28-year-old failed to have much of an impact, mustering 22 runs in three games at an average of 7.33.

Even though he failed to impress against Australia, Farhan wants more time to play at his normal positions in order to prove he belongs at the international level.

“I’ll be ready to play wherever I’m needed, but I hope to get a chance to play in the same position I play in domestic matches,” the Charsadda native was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

Pakistan lost the T20I series 3-0, but beat Australia 2-1 in the ODIs, which gave them their first ODI series win in the country since 2002.

The men in green are now playing a three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe and lost the first game by 80 runs via the DLS method.

Following the ODIs, Pakistan and Zimbabwe will face each other in a three-match T20I series, with the first game scheduled to be held on December 1 in Bulawayo.
