Former Pakistan speedster Abdur Rauf has branded Fakhar Zaman as the “best batsman” in the country.
Zaman has gained a reputation for being a dangerous big-hitter who can turn the tide of a match or in many cases, single-handedly win a game.
Lately, the 34-year-old has found himself in hot water as he criticised the decision to drop Babar Azam midway through Pakistan’s three-Test series against England.
After posting that on social media, Zaman did not receive a central contract for the 2024/25 season and also wasn’t picked for the limited overs series against Australia and Zimbabwe.
Since he knows how useful of an asset Zaman is, Rauf urged the Mardan native not to meddle in affairs that don’t concern him.
“You are the best batsman of Pakistan,” he said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Pakistan’s tour of Australia bore mixed results as they won the ODIs 2-1, which was their first ODI series victory in the country since 2002.
However, they failed to maintain their momentum in the T20I leg as they were whitewashed 3-0.
Pakistan are now involved in an ODI series against Zimbabwe and find themselves trailing 1-0 after losing the first game by 80 runs via the DLS method.
Once the three-match ODI series is complete, the two teams will play three T20Is, with the first match set to begin on December 1 in Bulawayo.
