Mohammad Amir: “Please stop with [this] petty talk that Babar wasn’t in the team, that is why we won”

Pakistan left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir has scolded fans for launching personal attacks against Babar Azam, saying it is unwarranted.
He noted that supporters have the right to criticise cricketers for their performance, but should never cross the line with what they say.
His comments come after many fans said Pakistan won their three-Test series against England since Azam was removed from the squad for the second and third Tests.
Azam has not been in good form over the last few months and in the first Test against England, he was only able to make scores of 30 and 5.
Nonetheless, Amir felt the need to defend the 30-year-old, given all he has done for Pakistan cricket.
“Please stop with [this] petty talk that Babar wasn’t in the team, that is why we won,” he said on X, formerly known as Twitter, as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
Azam is currently featuring in Pakistan’s limited overs series against Australia, which consists of three ODIs and three T20Is.
In the ODI series, he amassed 80 runs at an average of 80 as the men in green triumphed 2-1, which gave them their first ODI series win in Australia since 2002.
After their tour of Australia concludes, Pakistan will travel to Zimbabwe to play three ODIs and three T20Is from November 24 to December 5.
