Rashid Latif: “I have seen Zaheer Abbas, Javed Miandad and others but Babar Azam is the greatest player Pakistan has ever produced”

Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Rashid Latif believes Babar Azam is better than legendary players like Zaheer Abbas and Javed Miandad.
Latif called Azam the “greatest player Pakistan has ever produced”.
His remarks are sure to raise eyebrows, especially considering what Abbas, Miandad and many other outstanding Pakistan batsmen were able to achieve in their careers.
While there is no doubt that Azam has accomplished a lot so far, many people may think it is too early to be putting him above some of the greats of the game.
Nonetheless, Latif feels the 30-year-old is right at the top of the list when it comes to Pakistan’s best-ever cricketers.
“I have seen Zaheer Abbas, Javed Miandad and others but Babar Azam is the greatest player Pakistan has ever produced,” he was quoted as saying by Khel Shel on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Azam recently featured in Pakistan’s two-Test series against Bangladesh and was limited to 64 runs at an average of 16.
He fared a lot better in the Champions One-Day Cup, which was a domestic 50-over competition held in Faisalabad.
In four games for the Stallions, the Lahore native amassed 230 runs, which included a century and a fifty, at an average of 76.66.
Azam then played in the first Test against England and made scores of 30 and 5 as the men in green were thrashed by an innings and 47 runs.
He was subsequently rested for the second Test, which Pakistan won by 152 runs, and won’t take part in the third Test either, which starts on October 24 in Rawalpindi.
