Pakistan spinner Shadab Khan has called 140 kph fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain a “trump card” following his string of impressive domestic performances.

Hasnain last played for Pakistan in January 2023, but is making a strong case for a recall as he has been wreaking havoc with the ball lately.

In the Champions One-Day Cup, which was a domestic 50-over competition that took place in Faisalabad, the 24-year-old finished as the highest wicket-taker with 17 victims in six matches for the Panthers at an average of 16.17.

He then represented Pakistan Television in the President’s Cup Grade-I (1-Day) tournament and was the joint third-highest wicket-taker with nine wickets in four games at an average of 19.55.

Having captained the Panthers in the Champions One-Day Cup, Shadab saw firsthand how good Hasnain has been.

“Hasnain is a trump card,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Neither Shadab nor Hasnain were picked for Pakistan’s recent two-Test series against Bangladesh, which they lost 2-0.

The men in green are now involved in a three-match Test series against England, which is tied at 1-1.

The third Test will start on October 24 in Rawalpindi.

Pakistan Squad for 2nd and 3rd Tests against England: Shan Masood (captain), Saud Shakeel (vice-captain), Aamer Jamal, Abdullah Shafique, Haseebullah Khan (wicketkeeper), Kamran Ghulam, Mehran Mumtaz, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Ali, Muhammad Hurraira, Mohammad Rizwan (wicketkeeper), Noman Ali, Saim Ayub, Sajid Khan, Salman Ali Agha, Zahid Mahmood.
