Pakistan batsman Usman Khan has insisted he is not a risky player and doesn’t play “too many shots” even though people may hold that opinion about him.

Usman was fast-tracked into the national team in April 2024, but hasn’t had much success at the international level, scoring 117 runs in 10 T20Is at an average of 14.62.

That said, the 29-year-old has been on fire in domestic cricket as of late as he was the highest run-scorer in the Champions One-Day Cup, which was a domestic 50-over competition that was held in Faisalabad.

Usman accumulated 272 runs in six matches for the Panthers, which included a century and two fifties, at an average of 54.40.

He then proceeded to play for Eshaal Associates in the President’s Cup Grade-I (1-Day) tournament and struck 230 runs in three games, which included a career-best knock of 201 not out, at an average of 115.

“Some people watch me play and say I play very riskily or hit too many shots, but my mindset is that I have belief in the shots that I want to play. Everyone thinks I can get out at any time, but I’ve chosen the balls to hit with my favorite shots that I’ve played in international cricket, PSL, and now domestic cricket. These are my shots, and thankfully, I am able to execute them, due to which I know how to bat fast,” Usman was quoted as saying by Grassroots Cricket on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Usman was not picked for Pakistan’s two-Test series against Bangladesh, which they lost 2-0.

The men in green are now taking on England in a three-match Test series, which is tied at 1-1.

The third Test will start on October 24 in Rawalpindi.
