Powerful Pakistan batsman Usman Khan said he has “developed a habit of scoring hundreds from an early age”.
Usman has been in fantastic form in domestic cricket lately after failing to impress at the international level.
The 29-year-old was fast-tracked into the national team and has featured in 10 T20Is, where he has mustered 117 runs at an average of 14.62.
Despite his subpar performances for the men in green, Usman has been a force to be reckoned with in the last two domestic 50-over competitions held in Pakistan.
In the Champions One-Day Cup, which was a domestic 50-over competition that took place in Faisalabad, he finished as the highest run-scorer with 272 runs in six matches for the Panthers, which included a century and two fifties, at an average of 54.40.
Usman then represented Eshaal Associates in the President’s Cup Grade-I (1-Day) tournament and made 230 runs in three games, which included a career-best knock of 201 not out, at an average of 115.
Having stamped his authority in the 50-over competitions, Usman now has his sights set on doing the exact same thing during the red-ball season, which gets underway very soon.
“I had developed a habit of scoring hundreds from an early age. Leagues are not important to me. I am really glad that I am getting to play domestic cricket. This is important for me. I am going to play the upcoming red-ball season as well, which is great,” the Karachi native was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Usman was not selected for Pakistan’s two-Test series against Bangladesh, which they lost 2-0.
The men in green are now facing England in a three-match Test series, which is tied at 1-1.
The third Test will begin on October 24 in Rawalpindi.
