Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Sarfaraz Ahmed has revealed that promising prospect Haseebullah Khan was unfit during the recent Champions One-Day Cup.
The 50-over domestic tournament was held in Faisalabad and Haseebullah, who is also a wicketkeeper-batsman, had been selected to represent the Markhors.
However, he was only limited to two games in the Champions One-Day Cup and failed to have an impact as he made 30 runs at an average of 15.
Sarfaraz pointed out that the 21-year-old from Pishin didn’t play more games in the competition as his fitness was not up to the mark.
“I don’t think people know this but Haseebullah got unfit, unfortunately,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Haseebullah was not picked for Pakistan’s recent two-Test series against Bangladesh, which they lost 2-0.
The men in green are now taking on England in a three-match Test series and find themselves trailing 1-0 after losing the first Test in Multan by an innings and 47 runs.
Haseebullah has been called up for the second and third Tests, but it remains to be seen if he will be included in the playing XI and make his Test debut.
The second Test between Pakistan and England will start on October 15 in Multan.
