Pakistan speedster Aamer Jamal believes it would be a mistake to fast-track all-rounder Jahandad Khan into the national team.

Jahandad has shown plenty of potential in domestic cricket, including his big-hitting skills and wicket-taking capabilities.

However, Jamal feels it would be better for the 21-year-old to keep honing his game before he makes the jump to international cricket.

“I would say that he should not be fast-tracked right now, but he should be given some time,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Jahandad recently featured in the Champions One-Day Cup, which was a domestic 50-over competition that took place in Faisalabad.

In the five matches he played for the Stallions, he scored 96 runs at an average of 24 and was the joint second-highest wicket-taker with 10 wickets at an average of 19.

Right now, he is representing Pakistan TV in the President’s Cup Grade-I (1-Day) tournament and has struck 56 runs in four games, which includes a top score of 51 not out, at an average of 28.

Bowling-wise, he has claimed six wickets at an average of 24.66.

Jahandad and Jamal both didn’t feature in Pakistan’s two-Test series against Bangladesh, which the men in green lost 2-0.

However, Jamal is currently in action in the three-Test series against England, where he took one wicket and made scores of 7 and 55 not out.

Pakistan lost the first Test by an innings and 47 runs and will be looking to bounce back in the second Test, which begins on October 15 in Multan.
