Pakistan spinner Shadab Khan said up-and-coming batsman Muhammad Hurraira shouldn’t have tried to hit him every ball when they faced each other in the Champions One-Day Cup.
Shadab captained the Panthers in the 50-over domestic tournament, while Hurraira represented the Dolphins.
When their teams clashed, Hurraira made 39 runs off 30 balls before being dismissed by Shadab.
“Hurraira is my younger brother. He was trying to hit me every ball, which he shouldn’t have done (laughs),” the 26-year-old leg-spinner was quoted as saying by journalist Farid Khan on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Shadab was in fantastic form throughout the tournament as he took five wickets in five games at an average of 37.
He also scored 120 runs, which included a top score of 65, at an average of 40.
As for Hurraira, he finished with 86 runs in four games at an average of 21.50.
Shadab, who hails from Mianwali, is now playing for Ghani Glass in the President’s Cup Grade-I (1-Day) competition and has claimed four wickets in four matches at an average of 55.75.
Batting-wise, he has accumulated 103 runs, which includes a top score of 81, at an average of 34.33.
Shadab was not selected for Pakistan’s two-Test series against Bangladesh, while Hurraira was in the squad, but didn’t feature in both matches.
Despite playing both games on home soil in Rawalpindi, the men in green ended up being whitewashed 2-0.
Hurraira was also picked for the ongoing three-match Test series against England, but wasn’t included in the playing XI for the first Test in Multan, which Pakistan lost by an innings and 47 runs.
The second Test will get underway on October 15 in Multan.
